A new twist on poly?

There's been quite a lot of discussion recently about various poly topics, most of which seem to focus on the difficulties experienced by people first coming into a poly relationship (be that from the person already established in the relationship or the person coming in new to an already established relationship.)...

Pain and pride

Today i sat through the last hour of a tattoo that i now wear with a great deal of pride. In less than 4 weeks i will have been in service to Tanos for 7 years, and the tattoo was done in honour of that. It may not have always been a smooth ride for him or me but i can honestly say it's been the best 7 years of my whole life....

Jungian Archetypes (for Tanos)

Jung hypothesized that humans have a .preconscious psychic disposition. that enables to react in a human manner and that these .potentials for creation. are actualized when they enter consciousness as images(4). However, there is an important distinction to be made between the pre-existent psychic disposition and these images since there are only a few basic archetypes or patterns which exist at the unconscious level, but there is an infinite variety of specific images which point back to them from the conscious mind. Furthermore, since these archetypal patterns are not under conscious control, modern man tends to fear them and deny their existence through repression(4). Hence, the central therapeutic concept of Jung's analytical psychology was the concept of the need for balance to gain psychic health and that to achieve psychic health, or .wholeness., one must aim to become a .whole. (individual) person(1). The process of doing so, however, is different for each individual person but Jung believed it especially involved coming to terms with the archetypes. He hypothesized that when an individual is troubled, he or she will dream archetypal (as opposed to merely personal) dreams whose aim is to right an imbalance in the psyche of that individual(1)....

The Glamour - Christopher Priest

"We all make fictions. Not one of us is what we seem. ... The urge to rewrite ourselves as real-seeming fictions is present in us all. In the glamour of our wishes we hope that our real selves will not be visible."

Bow and Curtsey

A curtsey can be defined as being a traditional gesture of greeting, in which the woman bends her knees whilst bowing her head. In essence, the female equivalent of male bowing in Western cultures.

In sixteenth and seventeenth century France the curtsey was used as a basic movement of female reverence, and developed a number of variations during it's use which indicated the level of reverence shown to those of senior social rank (it's flamboyance only restricted by the amount of movement the current fashion in costume allowed.)...

Zentai-ism and the loss of egocentric emotion

Sometime i find humility hard, humiliation even harder.

By humiliation i do not mean the verbal humiliation brought about through name calling (i have never been required to endure that.) Nor the embarrassing humiliation of a more physical nature (though i have, on occasions, been required to do that! ;-))...

Violence against women

Recent discussions have raised a number of issues around female submissives, safety and early play in BDSM and where i do acknowledge that safety is an issue for any woman (after all i am one) it's not just a "first date" problem. In fact, if you were to look at the reality of violence against women, the fact is that most women who become victims of violence do so in domestic abuse situations and not because they agree to "play" too early....

The Spirituality of Sado-Masochism (Excerpt)

As far as Sado-masochism goes I don't mind admitting that I've struggled at times with calling myself a masochist. But then there have also been times when I've struggled with my bisexuality, my submissiveness and indeed, my desire to Top. I think its true to say that about 95% of the pain I enjoy has to be delivered in a D/s context for it to transform into the hedonistic experience I know its capable of becoming. As a consequence I always feel somewhat reluctant about ranking myself a "true" masochist. ...
